The Vernon Jazz Club cannot wait to celebrate with Canadian vocal icon Laila Biali after her recent, well-deserved nomination for a GRAMMY. Dubbed by the Washington Post as an artist who “masterfully mixes jazz and pop, bringing virtuosity and unpredictability to songs that are concise and catchy,” Biali stands out among Canadian jazz vocalists / pianists for her fearless creativity and deep emotional range. Host of CBC’s Saturday Night Jazz, Laila’s current project explores Canada’s cultural identify through the music of k.d. Lang, Leanard Cohen, Neil Young and Joni Mitchell--reimagining their music with her trademark warmth, innovation and vocal sophistication. Laila Biali will be joined onstage by Ben Wittman - drums, Mike Rud - guitar and Rob Fahie - bass.
